SkinCeuticals Protect: Protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun.
A good daily routine in skin care is essential for anyone who wants to prevent skin damage. That is why SkinCeuticals has divided its products into three different categories: the philosophy of SkinCeuticals in three steps. First, prevent skin damage (prevent) | 2. Treat existing skin problems (correct) | 3. Actively protect the skin (protect).
In this blog, we take a closer look at step 3: SkinCeuticals Protect and address the most frequently asked questions about these products.
SkinCeuticals Protect
Protecting the skin from the harmful effects of the sun goes beyond simply preventing sunburn. After all, UVA/UVB rays accelerate the process of skin aging and are also the cause of hyperpigmentation.
SkinCeuticals sunscreens offer broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Formulated with high-quality active ingredients, the skin is protected from the full spectrum of harmful UV rays. Thus, they protect against two types of solar radiation that enter our atmosphere and harm skin health.
UVA = Aging Radiation.
UVA rays are present throughout the year and are responsible for the appearance of wrinkles, discoloration, and loss of elasticity. They can penetrate clouds, glass, and the upper layers of skin and cause year-round damage, even on cloudy days, while driving or standing indoors by a window.
UVB = Burning radiation
UVB rays are stronger during summer and cause sunburn and skin cancer. In addition, they do not penetrate the skin as deeply as UVA rays but are just as dangerous to skin health.

FAQ - the most frequently asked questions about sun protection
Which UV protection filter do I choose?
Mineral filter
Also known as physical, it lies on the skin and blocks UV rays like a shield. Titanium dioxide is a natural mineral filter in our 100% sunscreens. It offers a gentle, chemical-free option for all skin types.
Organic filter
Also known as a chemical filter, it penetrates the skin and absorbs UV rays like a sponge. Our chemical filters also offer other benefits, such as water resistance, quick absorption for all skin types, incredibly dark complexions, and active lifestyles.
Mix: mineral + organic
Our most multi-tasking formula has the UV protection of both types of filters, offering the benefits of hydration, water resistance, and exceptional wearability for everyday use.
How much sun protection should I apply to my face and body?
When appropriately applied and primed, broad-spectrum sun protection has been shown to protect against premature skin aging and skin cancer. However, studies have shown that only 25-50% of users apply the dermatologist-recommended amount of sunscreen to adequately protect the skin from sun damage.
To stay adequately protected, it is essential to cover all exposed areas of the skin with a generous layer of sunscreen. As a general rule of thumb, a 50-ct coin amount should be applied to the face, and a shot glass amount should be applied to the body. The amount may vary slightly depending on a person's weight or height.
How often should I apply sun protection?
Sun protection should be applied daily, regardless of the weather. SkinCeuticals sunscreens are formulated to provide broad-spectrum UVA / UVB protection year-round and are ideal for daily use. We recommend reapplying sun protection every two hours.
Do I apply my sun protection before or after a moisturizer?
Sun protection should always be applied last, as it is the first layer exposed to the sun. The general rule for applying skin care products is to apply the lightest product first and then work up to the thickest formula. For example, when using a moisturizer, take the time to allow the moisturizer to be fully absorbed by the skin and then apply sunscreen. For optimal results, let the sun protection dry completely before applying makeup.
