Likami LUME+ LED Therapy Mask

What really sets the LUME+ LED Therapy Mask apart is the revolutionary LUME Layer Lift™ technology. Unlike traditional LED masks, which make direct contact with your skin, this advanced design creates a 1-inch space between the light surface and your face.

This clever “floating” design ensures optimal and even distribution of therapeutic light, while allowing your skin to continue to breathe – a comfort you may not experience with other masks. Moreover, you hardly notice that you are wearing the mask, weighing only 93 grams. Even longer sessions feel pleasant.

Comfort and hygiëne are paramount: thanks to the flexible and water-resistant (IP67) material, you easily rinse the mask after use. The 54 advanced 4-in-1 LEDs deliver a total of 216 points of light, resulting in full coverage of your face and therefore consistent and effective results.

The benefits of LUME+ LED Therapy Mask

  • The mask floats 1 cm above the skin
  • 216 light points for wide coverage
  • Three light programs
  • Lightweight, flexible, IP67 waterproof and USB-C rechargeable
  • For multiple skin purposes

How to use LUME+ LED Therapy Mask.

Cleanse your skin and remove makeup. Apply the appropriate Likami PLUS serum and let it soak in. Put on the mask and select light color and energy level. Start the session. Duration: 10-30 minutes. Clean the mask with a soft cloth or rinse off.

Red light and near infrared light (630 + 850 nmnm): Stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, for increased firmness and elasticity. Recommended serums: Hydration Serum, Firmness Elasticity Serum

Blue light (415nm): Works antibacterial, reduces acne and inflammation, and helps regulate sebum production. Recommended serums: Hydration Serum, Anti-Acne Serum, Even Skin Tone Serum

Yellow Light (590nm): Penetrates deep into the skin, promotes cell regeneration, reduces pigmentation and scarring, and improves the overall vitality of the skin. Recommended serums: Hydration Serum, Skin Redness Serum

After an LED light therapy treatment, your skin is more receptive than usual. It absorbs care products more easily. That's why it's smart to use products that boost your skin's recovery, hydration and renewal. Consider: Fine Lines & Wrinkles Serum, Essential Oil Serum, Facial Intensive Hydration Cream, Goodnight Renewal Cream.

Note: The following serums contain strong ingredients. Therefore, use them only at least 4 hours after your LED light treatment or at another time of the day: Anti-Aging Serum (Retinol), Hyperpigmentation Serum (Kojic Acid), Skin Renewal Serum (Glycolic Acid), Brighten Skin Serum (Multivitamin Complex).
To prolong the effect of LED therapy, it is important to use a good sunscreen every day.

An LED mask is much more than just a cosmetic gadget. It is based on a scientific method called photobiomodulation. In short, this technology uses specific light waves to activate your skin's natural repair processes.

Here's how it works:

  • Light as a source of energy
Your skin cells absorb the light, which stimulates the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). This is your body's main energy molecule. Increased ATP production allows your cells to renew themselves faster and repair better.

  • Various light colors, various effects
Different colors of light penetrate to different depths in your skin and each has its own specific effects:
    • Red + Near-infrared (630 + 850 nm): This combination stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, providing firmer skin and reducing fine lines. It also aids in cell renewal and repair.
    • Blue (415 nm): This light works antibacterial and is effective against the bacteria that cause acne. It also helps regulate sebum production, leading to more even and clear skin.
    • Yellow (590 nm): Yellow light improves microcirculation, meaning it increases blood flow in the skin. This helps soothe redness and reduce swelling.
The results of LED therapy have been extensively scientifically proven. By using the right light intensity, it effectively leads to skin improvement without the risk of overstimulation.

The effectiveness of an LED mask depends not only on the type of light, but mainly on two important technical specifications: wavelength and power.

  1. Wavelength (nm): Determines the depth of penetration The wavelength of light determines how deeply it penetrates your skin. Different colors of light have different wavelengths and thus different effects on the skin layers:
    • Red and near-infrared light have longer wavelengths and penetrate deeper into the skin. This makes them ideal for stimulating collagen production and cell renewal.
    • Blue light has a shorter wavelength and works more superficially. This makes it very effective in targeting bacteria on the skin surface.
    • Yellow light penetrates to a medium depth, ideal for soothing the skin and improving circulation.
2. Power (mW/cm²): Determines the power of the light The power, expressed in milliwatts per square centimeter (mW/cm²), indicates how much energy your skin receives per second. This is essential for triggering a biological response in skin cells.
    • Too low powers (<10 mW/cm²) are often not powerful enough to achieve a noticeable effect.
    • Too high powers can unnecessarily irritate and potentially harm the skin.
    • Ideal power settings are precisely matched to the specific wavelength for optimal results, e.g.:
      • Red + Near-infrared: Approximately 32 mW/cm² for effective collagen stimulation.
      • Blue: Approximately 45 mW/cm² for killing bacteria.
      • Yellow: About 11 mW/cm² for soothing effect and improved blood flow.
Thus, both the right wavelength and the optimal power are indispensable for safe and effective results of LED therapy.

An LED mask is generally safe for most skin types, including dry, oily, sensitive or acne-prone skin. The therapy is non-invasive and well tolerated.

However, there are some rare cases where it is better to be extra careful or avoid use. Consult your doctor before using an LED mask if you suffer from epilepsy, have lupus or any other photosensitive condition or are taking medications that make your skin more photosensitive such as certain antibiotics or antifungals. In these situations, light therapy can potentially cause unwanted reactions.

The results of LED therapy are cumulative, meaning they build up the more regularly you use the mask. Consistency is therefore the key to success. For optimal results, dermatologists recommend the following frequency of use:
  • Number of sessions: use the mask 3 to 5 times a week.
  • Duration per session: each session should last between 10 and 30 minutes.
  • Variety: vary the light color based on what your skin needs at the time.
Using red light is safe for daily use as it stimulates cell renewal. The use of blue and yellow light can be tailored to specific skin problems, such as acne (blue light) or redness (yellow light).

To achieve the best results, it is important to avoid the following:

  1. Use on uncleaned skin
Always use the LED mask on a clean and dry face. Make sure that you cleanse your skin thoroughly first, preferably with a double cleanser. Residue from makeup, sunscreen or dirt can block the light's penetration, making the treatment less effective.

  2. Using the wrong skincare
The products you apply before and after treatment are crucial. Thick, heavy creams can form a barrier and prevent light from reaching skin cells. Opt for light, water-based serums or gels that promote light penetration.

  3. Irregular use
LED therapy is not a "quick fix. Consistency is the key to success. One-time use will not produce visible results. It is essential to follow a regular treatment schedule, such as the recommended 3 to 5 times per week.

  4. Overuse
More is not always better. While regularity is important, overuse of the mask can irritate the skin. Stick to the recommended duration and frequency per session to allow the skin to recover between treatments.
