Tested: Prescription Red spots/couperose/rosacea

With Prescription, everyone gets personalized skin advice and a prescription with instructions on what ingredients your skin needs and in what dosages. Prescription offers a collection of science-based actives and basics that you can mix & match to create your own professional skin improvement.

The home testers tested Prescription Edelweiss Cleanser + Mandelic acid 20%, products that provide even and calm skin tone and result in skin improvement and rejuvenation while also strengthening the skin barrier.

Important: for optimal red spots/couperose/rosacea treatment, Prescription also recommends the use of the Vegan Edelweiss Cleanser + Mandelic acid 20%. These products were not part of the home test.

Anneke: "I am very satisfied with both products that do what it promises in that the redness of my skin has diminished considerably after only 2.5 weeks."

After cleansing my face in the morning, I applied the Edelweiss Cream mixed with 3 drops of niacinamide to the facial skin. Mixing the two products took some getting used to because how do you handle this? In a container or in the cap or just on your hand? The latter made the most sense because then there was no wastage either. The Cream felt nice and creamy on the skin, spread well and the skin felt well nourished. I can say that the product met my expectations. My skin already looks much calmer and that after using it for only 2.5 weeks!

Before - After 2,5 use of Prescription

Functioning score 5/5

Skin is much calmer and less red and that after only 2.5 weeks!

Smell score 4/5

Just a pleasant smell.

Texture score 5/5

Lovely creamy texture. Feels rich on the skin.

Price-quality score 4/5

Compared to other products, this one is definitely not too expensive. However, the combo of the products does make the total more expensive.

Overall score 5/5

I am very satisfied with the result after only 2.5 weeks.

Positive points

  • Pleasant creamy cream, nicely spreadable during the day as a foundation base, and a bit thicker in the evening for the night.
  • Nice odor.
  • It does what it promises to do.

Negative points

  • Mixing the cream with the niacinamide takes some getting used to at first.

Micheline: "The Prescription product combination has a nice scent, absorbs quickly, and addresses skin problems."

The idea of this "mix & match" product immediately appealed to me. The Cream is called "vehicle," or in other words, through the Cream, the active ingredients that you add to the Cream in drops are brought into the skin. For example, Niacinamide is an active ingredient in high concentration that should address your skin problem. For instance, I suffer from red spots on my skin. Niacinamide is supposed to address that problem. Sounds good!

I used the Prescription Vegan Edelweiss Cream and three drops of Niacinamide 7% daily on adequately cleansed skin. In the evening, I used just the Cream. Both products have a lovely fresh scent. In the morning, I put some cream on my hand and dripped the active ingredient with the pipette. After mixing, the texture immediately became lighter and more transparent. The product is fine on the skin and feels nice, fresh, and soft. It does not leave a greasy layer on the skin. Throughout the day, my skin remains soft to the touch. I like this product.

Functioning score 4/5

I have been using it for over 2 weeks now. My skin texture has already improved and I see less red spots on my skin. So, it seems to be doing something.

Smell score 5/5

Lovely fresh fragrance reminiscent of nature (plants/flowers).

Texture score 5/5

Soft, easy to spread cream. Does not feel greasy on the skin and does not leave a greasy film.

Price-quality score 4/5

The combination of the two products is a bit expensive, but seeing the results, it's totally worth it.

Overall score 4/5

Pleasant to use and seems to deliver what it promises!
My skin looks fresher, calmer and the red spots have diminished.

Positive points

  • Interesting concept (cream as a carrier, add an active ingredient that suits your skin).
  • Easy to use.
  • Pleasant texture.
  • Pleasant odor.
  • Absorbs well and doesn't leave a film.
  • Skin seems calmer with fewer spots.

Negative points

  • None

Arnoud: "Not for me."

I really like the desires of a consumer. However, I do not think it is suitable for home use since the average customer has a limited ability to assess their skin problems. If there are actual problems, one is already under the care of a beautician I think. In addition, I find the usage downright lubricating. First the cream on your hand and then add the drops, then mix and then apply to the skin. This leads to a relatively large amount of waste and I find the ease of use inadequate. A face cream you just want to apply to your face with one lick. Perhaps this product could work if it comes in a pump bottle with a mixing system so that the product is available mixed and ready to use.

Functioning score 3/5

I didn't notice any visible improvements.

Smell score 4/5

A fine neutral odor.

Texture score 4/5

Feels good, not sticky or greasy.

Price-quality score 3/5

Good.

Overall score 3/5

I see no added value for me in this product.

Positive points

  • The idea is good and innovative.

Negative points

  • Not suitable for home use.
  • Too complicated to mix the products yourself.

Conclusion: The products do what they're meant to do and address the skin problem.
